Dear Joseph and Lucia,
It’s been several days since I wrote last. Late last week I came down with a cold and didn’t climb out of bed for 2 days. Then I rode the train over the weekend. I didn’t want to face the traffic headed to Dallas for the Texas-OU game. Last year it took me 6 hours for a normally 3.5 hour drive. I left my laptop in OKC because I didn’t want to lug it around on all the trains. Good thing too. The return trip got delayed. By the time I finally pulled into the house last night at 11PM, I was pooped.
I was treated to a brilliant sunset, as you can see above. At least there were a lot of interesting people to talk to on the ride.
While I was home, I had a chance to start scanning some of the photographs my parents kept. It was amazing to see all the places your great grandfather, Hiram Randel, travelled in his life; Africa, China, Europe, and all over the US. He took pictures everywhere he went. I also scanned pictures of your great great grandmother Martin, Mimmie. Somewhere in all those is a picture of her mother, my great great grandmother Walkowitz. I remember the picture but haven’t found it yet. They tried to have me sit in her lap, but in my youth, I didn’t let anyone hold me.
Well I need to get back to work. I’ll be here waiting. Hopefully, I can get back on schedule with my letters to you two. Just know that I love you both so much. I tear up every time I write to you.
Love,
Dad
