Dear Joseph and Lucia,
It’s been a while since I’ve left you a letter. I’ve been busy studying for a test I’ll be taking shortly. Besides, I didn’t have anything new to tell you. And then I remembered that my letters are about life… normal life.
Yesterday was Melynda’s 20th birthday. She’s no longer a teenager. I’m so proud to have her as a step-daughter. Her ambition and stubbornness are amazing. She’s doing good at OU. I meet with her every other week.
I won’t lie. It wasn’t easy at first. She and I had a couple of disputes. I think it was when she could see me as a life-line after she was on her own, things got better. Again, I couldn’t be more proud than to be part of her up-bringing.
I look forward to the day when you can meet her. I know she loves you both as siblings having never met you. The day we can all be together at the table for dinner will fill my heart.
Until then, I’ll wait. I’ll hope. I’ll love.
Love,
Dad
